My Story
Music has been a part of my life from the very beginning. My parents had a rule that my siblings and I had to learn the piano until our tenth birthday, and while I enjoyed the piano to a degree, I was fascinated by the violin and later the cello. However, after two summers of learning a stringed instrument, I found that the piano was my first love. Several years have passed, and I continue to study the piano and have begun to teach as well.

I have had over 12 years of experience playing the piano and have studied under many notable teachers including Melinda Porter, Joyce Roberts, and Pin Pin Jong. Under their tutelage I have participated in many recitals and competitions. Over the years, I have competed in Young Artist Auditions, earned a superior rating in the 50th Annual Bach Festival, and won five consecutive superiors in the National Federation of Music Clubs competitions (NFMC). I also won the National Music Week Essay Contest for the state of Mississippi and my original compositions won first place for two consecutive years in NFMC competitions.

I have been classically trained and have studied the works of memorable composers including Chopin, Bach, Beethoven, and Burgmüller; I also enjoy playing New Age Classical pieces and listening to composers like Hans Zimmer, Yiruma, and Ludovico Einaudi.

I have prior experience teaching young, novice musicians and I love sharing my knowledge and love of the piano with kids in the Chapel Hill/Pittsboro area.
